This project was about expressing the sound and culture of Electric Dance Music (EDM).

I wanted to encapsulate the high energy style of the music, looking at neon colours as well as primary research in club activity to inspire my work. One of my main methods of research was to listen to a piece of music (shown below) and write expressive words and phrases that described the music. I did this several times each time doing different tasks like expressive drawing to look at shapes and the flow of the particular song and painting to start visualising the colours that I thought connected to the piece. I so did this with other pieces of EDM music, I also wanted to see how other people interpreted this style of music so gather research from people getting them to do these same tasks to get their perceptions of the music, both negative and positive.
